I read in the newspaper that I'm not the only man who happens to be caught in an inter-sexual friendship where he would like it to be slightly more physically. I like your face, you like the way I talk. The motivations differ for our walks, but in the wind I get to rub your back, and to hold your hands just for a little while because they are cold. But when I go home, I know I'll be there on my own. We talk about your problems with your boy. I say I think you treat him like a toy. We talk about my one night stands. I exaggerate. You say they are the hunters and I am the bait. I think I'll never tell you how I feel. I think you know the nature of the deal. You know I'm never going to ask. You know I won't try. I know you're never going to ask. You know I won't lie. So when I go home, I know I'll be there on my own.

This album has been made using a portable studio - each song has been recorded in a different town. During the first half of 2012, I packed my recording gear into one suitcase and two guitar bags, and took the train to Berlin (DE), Hamburg (DE), Paris (FR), Brussels (BE), Ghent (BE), Antwerp (BE), Rotterdam (NL), Katwijk (NL), and Nijmegen (NL). In every home I stayed, I recorded a new song. Finishing the journey, I recorded one in my home town of Amsterdam (NL), making a total of ten songs. What you see here are parts of the album - a couple of songs are missing on purpose.

I didn't just record songs. Every time that I finished recording a song, I went to the nearest street corner to take a photograph and a sound sample, capturing the way the neighborhood looked and sounded that day. The photographs have been printed in this little book, next to their respective song lyrics, and the sound samples have been included as the short tracks that precede the songs. This way, every song on this album is introduced by a combination of a picture and an audio clip, taking you back to the moment in space and time in which it was recorded.

In this digital download, the sound clips introduce the songs - just like in the CD album. The pictures are added to the individual tracks. For the song lyrics, instrumentation, the other three songs, and fuller indulgement in general, consider buying the physical CD version of the album.
